This week:

As readers and writers, Corvus and Draco have explored and written an explanation text on ‘Why Muslims pray’. As mathematicians, Corvus have continued to add and subtract 3 digit numbers using the column method across tens and hundreds. Draco have been practising multiplying and dividing by 9 and comparing the area of different shapes. 

In RE, we have been exploring the reasons why Muslims pray regularly and have been comparing the reasons why Muslims pray in a mosque and at home. In PSHE, we have been studying ‘why do people work?’ and created a diamond 9 to rank the reasons from most to least important. In Music, we have been writing the lyrics for our Oxford Song related to our Stone Age topic in preparation for our workshop sessions with John after half term. 

Next term:

After half term, in English we will begin reading our new text, ‘King of the Sky’. In Geography, we will be exploring settlements in the United Kingdom, focusing on Oxford specifically. We will also be refining and rehearsing our lyrics for Oxford Song. Please don’t worry about completing maths homework for Monday 2nd October. The next homework is due Mon 9th October. However, please can your child continue to practise times tables and spellings at home.

Saturday 7th November 10am-12pm is our annual Open Day, while this day is predominately aimed towards families who may want join our school next academic year, we open the school to existing families too. There will be a range of activities for the children to enjoy. All families are welcome,  children are unable to attend without an adult to supervise them. Menna, Upper School Lead and Amy will also be leading a short information session on the Year 3/4 Curriculum between 10-10:15 in Draco classroom.
