Pegasus Reflect & Review

Friday 16th October 2026

We’ve had another brilliant and busy week in Pegasus!

It was fantastic to see so many of you at parents' evening on Wednesday. Thank you for taking the time to come in and share in your children's learning—we look forward to catching up with the rest of you this coming Wednesday.

This Week

In English, as storytellers, we finished reading Pattan’s Pumpkin and the children did a fantastic job creating and writing their own wonderful versions of the story. We were also lucky enough to have a drop-in from the Storytelling Museum on Thursday, where we explored traditional tales and experienced some first-hand storytelling!

As mathematicians, we built on our number bond practice by adding and subtracting 1s, making 10s, and learning how to add three single digits by searching for number bonds to help us solve calculations.

As financial experts, we explored the importance of money and began thinking about why we use it, practising calculating totals using coins.

As musicians, we have practised our Harvest Festival songs and are really looking forward to leading the service on Thursday.

Next Week

As mathematicians, we will be consolidating our addition across a ten and beginning to look at subtraction.

In RE, we will be having a special RE week where we focus on answering the big question: "Is it possible to be kind to everyone all of the time?" We will be exploring this through a Christian lens, using Godly Play to unpack the parable of the Good Samaritan and exploring times when Jesus was kind to others, even when they weren’t kind to him.

Drop off

In the morning, if you are dropping off younger children to Reception or Nursery, please drop them off first and then make your way round to Pegasus through the small green gate next to Nursery and Year 4.

Home Learning

Please complete Week 6 with your child this weekend to consolidate their learning from this week. Please also continue practising number bonds to 10 at home, as rapid recall really helps reduce their cognitive load in maths lessons.

Harvest Service

We are excited for our annual Harvest Service! All families are warmly welcome to join us at St Peter and St Paul's Church on Thursday 22nd October at 10:00am.

We would be very grateful for any parents or grandparents who are able to volunteer to walk down to the church with us—we will be leaving school at 9:15am. Please email your child's phase inbox if you are able to help.

Children are invited to bring an in-date, dry good as an act of service to be donated to the Oxford Food Hub (such as pasta, tinned goods, or cereal). Please note that children will need to be able to carry their donation themselves, as they will not be taking backpacks to the church.

Parent Forum

We will be holding our Parent Forum meetings on the following dates this year:

  • Tuesday 20th October

  • Tuesday 23rd March

  • Tuesday 15th June

All meetings run from 6:00pm to 7:00pm, and every parent is warmly invited to attend. Please note that to keep these sessions effective and focused, we will not discuss individual children or specific classes. Following on from our last meeting, the agenda for our first session in October will focus entirely on Communication Channels.

If you have any suggestions for topics you would like us to discuss at future forums, please email us directly at leadership@nhps.org.uk. We look forward to seeing you there!
