Columba and Aquila - Reflect and Review
Dear Parents and Carers,
This week has been another busy week, with plenty to celebrate.
A real highlight of the week was Sports Day. We were incredibly proud of all the children, who showed determination, resilience and excellent sportsmanship throughout the day. They all tried their very best, and it was wonderful to see them encouraging one another. Thank you to everyone who came along to support us and made the day so special.
In English, we planned, drafted and edited an adventurous story, focusing on powerful punctuation, figurative language and ambitious vocabulary.
As mathematicians, Columba focused on metric and imperial units, using timetables to solve a range of calculation and reasoning problems.
As historians, we presented our Elizabethan presentations, confidently sharing our research while continuing to develop our speaking and presentation skills.
Next week is Transition Week.
Current Year 6 (Aquila) will spend the week as North Hinksey High, taking part in a range of transition activities. Current Year 5 (Columba) will become the new Aquila class, settling into new routines and getting ready for September.
In English, we will use Here We Are by Oliver Jeffers as inspiration, exploring our school values and reflecting on new beginnings, belonging and our place in the world.
In art, the children will take part in collaborative art projects.
In maths, we will enjoy a range of Taskmaster-style challenges and team-building activities, encouraging problem-solving, resilience and teamwork.
