Tuesday 17 September 2024 Year 3 and 4 Ashmolean Trip Bringing History to Life at North Hinksey Primary School! Our Year 3 and 4 pupils recently had the opportunity to explore the Ashmolean Museum, where they learned about the Stone Age and the animals that were hunted during that time.

Tuesday 17 September 2024 Year 1 and 2 Marvellous Monarchs On Monday, Year 1 and 2 had a royally wonderful time during their Marvellous Monarchs workshop. They enjoyed learning about both Queen Elizabeth I and Queen Elizabeth II. They explored artefacts such as King Edward's Chair and the Diamond Diadem to make comparisons between the different coronation ceremonies. They also engaged in role play and story telling so the history came leaping off the page.

Thursday 16 May 2024 Commonwealth War Graves - Lighting their Legacy Service On Wednesday, Year 5 attended the Commonwealth War Grave Commission's 80th anniversary of D Day service. The children were escorte don a tour of the cemetery where Will informed them about the differing markings on the grave and shared stories about some of the people who were buried there. They then took part in the service attended by members of the public, active and retired members of the military and the Lord Mayor. They took part in the passing of the torch ceremony where memories and knowledge were symbolically passed down to the younger generation. The tributes the children wrote will now be taken over to Bayeux in France where they will form part of the international service of Remembrance.

Thursday 16 May 2024 Canal and River Trust Workshop On Monday, Year 3 and 4 were visited by the Canal and River Trust where they learnt about the economic reasons that canals were built. They learnt about the process of creating a canal and all the stages that were involved. The children were able to recall and apply the knowledge they had learnt at the River and Rowing Museum.

Friday 10 May 2024 Year 3 Residential Year 3 had a fantastic time at Runways End Outdoor Centre in Aldershot on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. They took part in archery, low ropes, climbing, orienteering and more! We're looking forward to welcoming our Year 3 families on Thursday at 2.40pm for Year 3's Residential Assembly.

Tuesday 16 April 2024 Year 5 Residential - Tile Barn Our Year 5s are have an amazing residential stay at Tile Barn. They are involving themselves in all activities with great gusto. They have been climbing, making fires and playing team games as well as other activities. Please check out the photo gallery below. More photos will be added to during the residential so be sure to check back.

Wednesday 27 March 2024 Year 4 DT Project In Year 4, we have been designing and constructing bridges. We were developing our initial designs including suspension, truss and arch bridges. We are looking forward to evaluating the effectiveness of bridges by testing them out with weights.

Wednesday 27 March 2024 Whole School Easter Service On Wednesday morning, the whole school walked to St Peter and St Paul's Church. We gathered together to celebrate the special time of Easter. We prayed for all nations and children around the world facing challenging circumstances.

Monday 25 March 2024 Year 5 and 6 DT Project Year 5 and 6 are developing their sewing skills, by designing and making Tudor garments. We’re practising joining fabric together with back stitch and running stitch, as well as embellishing our garments with buttons, ruffles and decorative stitches in keeping with the fashion of the time. Thursday 21 March 2024 Year 3/4 Production The Year 3 and 4s performed 'The Magic Flute' by Mozart beautifully this week. We were very proud of them and as the song suggested we certainly saw some 'parents burst with pride'. We thank the Royal Opera House for supporting the teaching staff through INSET and lesson plans to be able to teach the children opera. They were engaged with enchanting story and the whole production was organised by the children from narrators, acting, singing, sound and lighting production.

Thursday 21 March 2024 Comic Relief On Friday, to do something funny for money, we celebrated our funniest member of staff Mr Waldock by wearing odd socks. We raised £97.61!

Thursday 21 March 2024 Year 2 Cinema Trip On Friday, Year 2 had a wonderful time at the Curzon Cinema watching Trolls Band Together. It was full of excitement and the children all found it very funny. We were even lucky enough to have lunch with Drago the Dragon from the Fire Service afterwards.

Wednesday 13 March 2024 Commonwealth Day Service at Westminster Abbey On Monday, children from Year 5 and 6 attended the Commonwealth Day Service at Westminster Abbey. The children had an amazing time seeing the Queen, Prince William and other members of the Royal family. The service reflected on resilience and unity.

Friday 8 March 2024 World Book Day and 'The Magic Flute' Yesterday, we loved celebrating World Book Day, by dressing up as a book character, the Book Bake Off, a special lunch and performing the opera 'The Magic Flute'. The children's singing was phenomenal.
