Columba and Aquila - Reflect and Review

Dear parents and carers,

This week has been another productive week of learning.

In English, we wrote and edited play scripts using the features we have explored, drawing inspiration from Macbeth by William Shakespeare. We also began designing costumes for the characters in our play scripts.

As mathematicians, Columba focused on decimal sequences, as well as multiplying and dividing decimals by 10, 100 and 1,000. Aquila have been competing in taskmaster maths challenges focusing on our oracy skills and communicating as a team. 

We have also started to rehearse for our performance of Macbeth on the 30th of June. The children are working extremely hard in preparation.

In PSHE, we thought about the importance of global connections and how we are all linked to the wider world.

Next Week

Columba will have assessments in maths and reading next week. In English, we will focus on grammar and colourful semantics.

We will also continue developing our stage plans and costume designs, thinking carefully about materials, colours and how they link to the characters.

In maths, Columba will focus on converting units, including kilograms and kilometres, millimetres and millilitres. Aquila will be finishing their Taskmaster challenges before setting up their own maths bakery. 

In history, we will continue our investigations and update our presentations on Elizabethan times.

Home Learning

Please continue to encourage your child to read daily and practise their spellings regularly, as short and consistent practice supports confidence, fluency and progress across all areas of learning.

Maths practice journals should continue to be completed each week and brought into school as required.
