Columba and Aquila - Reflect and Review
Dear parents and carers,
Thank you all for your kind words of support during our OFSTED inspection early this week. I’m afraid we are in for a long wait for the report. We will update you as soon as we can.
This week our main focus was RE.
We began our enquiry into Sanātana Dharma, exploring the question: What is the best way for a Sanātani to show commitment to God? We learned about the significance of puja, how Sanātanis worship and show devotion to different gods and goddesses, and the many ways a Sanātani might show commitment to God. We also explored why pilgrimage to the River Ganges is important. The children planned, drafted and edited a diary entry from the viewpoint of a Sanātani on pilgrimage, using expanded noun phrases, prepositions, colons to introduce information, and parentheses.
As Mathematicians, Columba worked on fractions of an amount, finding the whole and using fractions as operators. Aquila focused strongly on algebra, developing their understanding of formulae and equations and applying these to problem-solving.
To mark Safer Internet Day, we watched a BBC Live Lesson about artificial intelligence and online safety. We discussed how AI is created, how it can make mistakes, and how to use it safely and responsibly.
Columba also took part in their fourth Climate Education Workshop, which focused on how using fewer resources can help reduce waste and support action on climate change.
Home Learning
Please encourage your child to read daily, practise their spellings, and talk about new vocabulary they meet in their reading. Regular short practice makes a big difference to confidence and progress.
Have a lovely half term.
