Columba and Aquila - Reflect and Review

Dear Parents and Carers,

We had another positive and engaging week of learning for everyone.

In English, we explored the appropriate use of connectors and examined characters’ emotions and choices. We focused on writing balanced arguments, using a range of connectives, while continuing to draw inspiration from The Journey by Francesca Sanna.

As mathematicians, Columba focused on column multiplication and stretched their thinking through a range of colourful challenges. Aquila worked on addressing misconceptions and developing effective problem-solving strategies.

As scientists, we explored microorganisms, carrying out observations and investigating factors that affect mould growth. We also learned about unusual mammals, further developing our understanding of classification.

Next Week

While some of the children in Columba will be attending the residential visit to the Arete Outdoor Centre, those remaining in school will take part in an exciting Design Technology project to design and create an animal-themed park. They will work collaboratively to plan, build, test and evaluate their designs.

In English, we will plan, draft and edit our own balanced arguments. In maths, Columba will practise short division and division with remainders.

In history, we will explore migration, learning about the reasons people migrate and comparing the geographical differences between the Caribbean and the UK.

Home Learning

Home learning will continue as usual. Please encourage regular reading at home and support your child in practising the words recorded in their spelling logbooks. Maths Practice Journals should be returned on Monday, please see new date stickers in the front of books. If one didn't make it into your child's book please let us know.
