Columba and Aquila - Reflect and Review
Dear Parents and Carers,
It has been another thoughtful week of learning across the curriculum.
Our main focus this week was RE, exploring the enquiry question: Is Christianity still a strong religion over 2000 years after Jesus was on Earth? We discussed different types of festivals and celebrations and considered what they demonstrate about belief and faith. We also carried out research on Christian charities and organisations and reflected on the legacy we would like to leave in the world.
As mathematicians, Columba continued practising adding and subtracting decimals using different representations and began focusing on negative numbers. In Aquila, we’ve been identifying gaps in our learning to ensure we can use all of knowledge in a range of contexts.
In PSHE, using the Big 5, we discussed small actions we can take to help save water and care for the environment.
Children should continue to fill in their Spring Sprint forms and bring them back for the first Monday back with distances they’ve travelled over half term. Please ensure that you have supported children to fill these in so that they are accurate!
Home Learning
Please continue to encourage your child to read regularly and practise their spellings over the half term, as short and consistent practice makes a real difference to confidence and fluency.
Columba Spelling Challenge: Children are encouraged to continue practising their spelling words and be ready to show their teacher after half term—they can earn raffle tickets towards a big prize for their effort and progress.
We wish you all a lovely half term with your families and look forward to welcoming the children back after the break.
