Columba and Aquila - Reflect and Review

Dear parents and carers,

It has been a very warm week, and the children have continued to work hard while enjoying some well-deserved fun with a water fight!

In English, we continued rehearsing for our performance of Macbeth, refining our acting, expression and stage presence. The children have shown fantastic commitment and teamwork, and we cannot wait for you to see the performance. As artists, we continued making props for our production, carefully thinking about how they will bring the story to life on stage. As mathematicians, Columba practised converting units, including kilometres and kilograms, and consolidated their understanding through a range of maths games and challenges.

Next Week

We are looking forward to our performance of Macbeth on Tuesday. Children should arrive at 5:00pm, with the performance beginning at 5:30pm.

In maths, Columba will continue converting units, including millilitres and millimetres, and will focus on converting units of length.

In history, we will continue our learning about Elizabethan times, exploring what life was like during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. Aquila will begin looking at Sex and Relationships Education (See MCAS from last week).

Home Learning

Please continue to encourage your child to read daily and practise their spellings regularly over the week.

Maths Practice Journals are due on Monday and will be checked in class.

Columba Spelling Challenge: Keep practising your spelling words and be ready to show your teacher to earn raffle tickets towards a big prize.

Costumes: 

Conversations have been had with all the children about costumes but this is here as a reference. There are not high expectations for anything, props are being provided. 

Narrators/chorus: Dark trousers, black top.

Assassins: All black/grey. Hoodie or hat or balaclava welcome.

Doctor: White and blue, an apron will be provided if he wants it. 

King Duncan: Dark trousers, shirt and a cape. 

Princes and Kingsmen: Dark trousers, a shirt. Armour is optional if you have it at home. 

Lady Macbeth/Lady Macduff: Blue or green long dress. 

Servants: Plain dark trousers, white top. 

Witches: Dark clothing, cloaks.
