Corvus and Draco - Reflect and Review
Dear Parents,
Corvus
In English, this year we have made some really good progress with I Was A Rat. We built a story map of the various locations that we have come across so far, using our senses to build vocabulary banks of descriptive words and phrases. We then chose a favourite location and wrote a setting description from the perspective of the main character, Roger.
In Maths, we have continued our study of statistics, building on our knowledge of pictograms by designing our own and then looking at alternative ways of presenting this data - bar charts.
In Wider Curriculum, we have concluded our study of the Georgians, with an overview of the key events and developments of the period. We studied R.E., exploring the enquiry question ‘Does celebrating Shavuot help Jewish children feel closer to God?’
It was our last week as Corvus this week, with students moving up to Draco with Mr Frost. I know that he is very excited for the year ahead. It’s been a pleasure to teach the class this year and they should be really proud of the progress that they have made. I wish them all the best for next year! We do still have one last day together this year though, with our exciting trip to the Ashmolean on Thursday. I’m sure it will be fantastic!
Draco
In Draco, the children had the pleasure of meeting one of their new teachers before transition week. Joanna very much enjoyed meeting the class. As a few members of staff are leaving, we recreated ‘Starry Night’ by Vincent Van Gogh. In PSHE, we have been thinking about changes that occur during puberty, and we used a venn diagram to sort through different types of physical changes and found similarities and differences between girls and boys.
It's been a pleasure to teach Draco this year, Mr Waldock and I have really enjoyed being with the class. We wish them all the luck next year.
