Corvus and Draco - Reflect and Review

Dear Parents, 

We hope you had a lovely half term break and it’s been great coming back together this week. It was lovely to talk to so many of you at Parents’ Evening - we look forward to seeing the rest of you in a couple of weeks’ time. 

This week, we have been practising our performance for World Book Day. Thank you for helping the children to rehearse and learn their lines at home - it’s really paying off! Please do continue to do this over the weekend if at all possible. We’re very excited to share it with you and the rest of the school next week. 

In English this week, we have been exploring water, building our subject specific vocabulary and using colourful semantics to help us identify different word types. In Maths, we have been exploring Length and Perimeter, converting between metres, centimetres and millimetres and starting to add lengths together. In Geography, we have just started to learn about the features of rivers, though this will continue next week as we have dedicated a lot of time to our upcoming performance. 

Next week

In English, we will start building towards an extended piece of writing on a memory associated with water. We have been building vocabulary this week and will introduce inverted commas for direct speech, which we will look to include in our extended piece. In Maths, we will start to look at perimeter - what it is and how to measure and calculate it. In Geography, we will continue our study of rivers, looking at flooding and (if we have time) starting to learn about the River Thames.

We’re aware of a mistake in the labels for homework this week. Moving forward, the children should continue with the dates as written but be a week behind with the pages they complete.

Please refer to the MCAS message, sent earlier this week, regarding changes to the drop off and pick up procedure moving forward.
