Delphinus - Reflect and Review

Dear dreamy Delphinus!

We have had a very busy first week to start the term off with a bang!

This week in Maths, we focused on Counting from 50 to 100, counting in 10s and partitioning into tens and ones.

Maths homework is week 4 and is due on Monday 1st June along with our physical activity sheets if you are partaking in that!

This week in a Curious Quest we looked at the book ‘Meg’s castle’. The children enjoyed the magical adventure in the castle and were excited by the funny characters, spells and surprises throughout the story. They were particularly engaged by the imaginative setting, which inspired them to create and share their own creative ideas.

The vocabulary they looked at this week included the words:

RESIDE

ANCIENT

ASCENDING

OMINOUS

GHOULISH

INVADING

VICTORIOUS

They had fun pairing the words with actions, this really helps them to remember the vocabulary and gives them a chance to be silly! Ask your child to show you Invading.

We read and we watched a talked through version of the book which you can now all access too : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-Wh56qcv74

In the wider curriculum this week we look at Journeys and modes of transport! We drew our own trains, and talked out our own journeys. Some of us are going to Japan in a submarine and it's only taking 2 hours!

We had an amazing day on Wednesday at Didcot railway centre! It was very soggy but the children loved it, especially riding on the steam train.

We are practising Tennis skills in PE on Fridays and have Athletics taught by the Sports Coach on Mondays. Please make sure your child comes in PE kit on those days, especially as the weather is getting warmer and the children are getting sweatier!

We have lots of exciting subjects to explore this term and are very excited to get stuck in to it all.
