delphinus - Reflect and Review
Dear Parents and Carers,
We have had a great week of learning in Delphinus class.
In Art this week children have been learning how to use watercolours, inspired by the artist Emma Burleigh. Rather than sticking to an idea before they start painting they were encouraged to enjoy the process and see what happened when they experimented with their brushstrokes. In music, the children worked hard rehearsing their Hansel and Gretel songs for their performance and did themselves proud on the day. In English children have started to focus on verbs in a sentence, and in maths they are learning about subtraction within 20. The week ended with an inspiring visit from Theo’s dad, Pete Blacker who wanted to fly to Mars when he was at primary school and grew up to work for MDA Harwell on robotic components for rovers on the move and for the International Space Station to name two. Your children as always had some great questions for him.
Coming up
It’s really important that outdoor learning dates in their diary so that children come to school in the correct outdoor clothes. Please also check the MCAS announcement from January regarding the Thought of the Day rota for last term and this. Some children haven't been aware that it is their day to do this recently.
Next week:
Please remember to do the Maths homework ready to hand in on Monday - we’re aware of an error on the label, but if you stick to the order of the pages due then you shouldn’t go wrong.
