Delphinus - Reflect and Review
Dear Delphinus Dreams!
We have had a lovely last week of term but we are definitely all ready for a well needed break!
This week in Maths, we focused on revisiting fractions and quarter turns, including left and right directions, to consolidate learning after last week’s disruption. We are now feeling much more confident with these topics and are looking forward to starting a new area of learning when we return.
Maths homework is week 3 and is due on monday 1st june along with our physical activity sheets if you are partaking in that!
This week in a Curious Quest we looked at the book ‘The Bad Tempered Ladybird’. The children really enjoy reading this book due to the bright illustrations and funny storyline. They especially like seeing the tiny ladybird challenge much bigger animals and enjoy joining in with the repeated phrases throughout the story.
The vocabulary they looked at this week included the words: LUNAR, GRUMPY, CHALLENGE, ENCOUNTER, ELONGATED, POTENT, and BULKY.
They had fun pairing the words with actions, this really helps them to remember the vocabulary and gives them a chance to be silly! Ask your child to show you ELONGATED - it's our favourite one.
We read and we watched a talked through version of the book which you can now all access too : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKQKYDYy1z4

In the wider curriculum this week we explored RE - Hinduism. We started off by learning about the different gods and why Hindus follow them. We then looked at Hindu symbols, why they are important and created our own!
Lastly we looked at the creation story and acted it out together as a class.
We are practising cricket skills in PE on Fridays and have Netball taught by the Sports Coach on Mondays. Please make sure your child comes in PE kit on those days, especially as the weather is getting warmer and the children are getting sweatier!
Lost Property! We still have a HUGE amount of UN-NAMED hoodies and sweatshirts in a box by the office. Please can we remember to name our own belongings and feel free to pop in when you drop your child off one morning next week to have a sift through and claim some!
Week beginning 1st june:
June 3rd - trip to Didcot Railway Centre! We are very excited for this school trip and cannot wait to learn all about trains and journeys.
Please note, there will be a lot of walking and exploring so please make sure your child is wearing sensible footwear and comfortable uniform clothing.
As the term comes to an end, we have been reflecting on all the exciting and fun activities we have enjoyed together. From cricket and Mantle of the Expert to digital painting, making birds, learning about pets in Science, and using our imagination during Curious Quest, it has been a fantastic term full of creativity, teamwork, and memorable learning journeys.
We hope you all have a lovely half term and enjoy some well-earned rest. Hopefully the good weather continues so you can get outside and make the most of your time off!
Thank you for a great term.
