Delphinus and Pegasus - Reflect and Review

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been a busy term and we hope you all have a lovely half-term break! Thank you all for your kind words of support during our OFSTED inspection early this week. We’re afraid we are in for a long wait for the report. We will update you as soon as we can.

Delphinus

We have had a great week of learning in Delphinus class. In Maths, we have been continuing learning how to understand teen numbers and had to have started adding within 20. In English, the children have been sent Jack and the Dreamsack by Professor Klunk and he asked them to draw and write about their wide-awake dreams. However, there was drama, as they heard from Professor Klunk that the Greap had captured Titch and they were asked for urgent help to get him released – they rose to the challenge! In RE, we have been learning about Sikhism and started by asking about who our special people are and how they care for us and make us feel; and then created our own community feast with vegetarian ‘food’ with servers to help understand what a Langar was. We learnt about the life of Guru Nanak and where and when Sikhism started.

As Mrs Holloway is retiring, we are now in need of another helper for our school trip on Friday 27th Feb. We would especially like a volunteer from our wonderful Delphinus class if possible! If you are able to help, please email the KS1 email address.

Pegasus

We have had a great week of learning in Pegasus class. In Maths, we have been continuing learning how to use grouping and sharing to create our own division sentences. In English, we have been learning about Guru Nanak and creating our own story maps. In RE, we have been learning about Sikhism including who God is to Sikhs. We learnt about how Sikhs show respect for the Guru Granth Sahib, including wrapping a cloth (rumala). We thought about our own special people and objects and how we show respect for them. We also explored the 10 Gurus and story of Guru Nanak, mapping the story.
