Pegasus - Reflect and Review

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have had another great week of learning in Pegasus class.

As writers, we have been writing an information text about koalas including: appearance, habitat, diet, movement and interesting facts. The children chose superb adjectives and verbs to describe koalas, as well as using a range of high-level vocabulary explored in our science lessons.

As mathematicians, we have continued our place value learning in maths, exploring how to use a number line to identify and estimate numbers up to 100. We were able to accurately estimate numbers, including where the number line doesn’t start at 0.

As scientists, we have been learning about the different habitats of animals in Australia and the life cycle of a wide range of animals. We have thoroughly enjoyed designing our tree houses this week in Art.

Unfortunately the Didgeridoo workshop was cancelled but it has been rearranged for Friday 17th October.

Next week:

Next week in English, we will begin reading Pattan’s Pumpkin: An Indian Flood Story. We will be exploring how to describe the different settings and characters in the story. In maths, we will be learning how to count in 2s, 3s, 5s and 10s.

Home-learning

Children on the Read Write Inc programme have their own book to read at home. However, children that have finished the Read Write Inc programme have now received a bookband book based on their reading level.

Maths homework is due Monday 6th October. We will mark our homework on that day. Spellings are also due on that day for those that have finished Read, Write, Inc. We will not be testing children on their spellings. It is just for children to practise their spellings at home.

17th October - Didgeridoo Day: workshop in school
