Pegasus - Reflect and Review

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have had another great week of learning in Pegasus class.

As writers, we have been reading Pattan’s Pumpkin: An Indian Flood Story. We have been drawing our own story map to sequence the events in the story as well as changing the story choosing our own setting, extreme weather event and special object that travels down the mountain.

As mathematicians, we have finished our place value learning in maths, using a hundred square to count in 2s, 5s and 10s before moving onto finding our number bonds to 10 and 20 using partitioning.

In RE, we have been learning about The Christian Creation Story exploring how God created the world in 7 days and understanding how we can help protect the world. We also reflected how we choose to look after important objects that belong to us.

Next week:

On Friday 17th Oct, we will be voting for our school councillors for Pegasus class. If your child would like to be on school council this year, please can they think of a reason why they would like to be chosen this year and share this with the class on Friday. If they were previously chosen in Year 1 or Reception, then unfortunately they will not be able to be chosen again.

Next week in English, we will be writing our short story based on Pattan’s Pumpkin: An Indian Flood Story. In Maths, we will be learning how to use dienes and rekenrek to partition numbers up to 100.  In Computing, we will be learning about the different components of a computer by developing our keyboard and mouse skills.

Home-learning

Maths homework is due Monday 13th October. We will mark our homework on that day. Spellings are also due on that day for those that have finished Read, Write, Inc. We will not be testing children on their spellings. It is just for children to practise their spellings at home.
