Pegasus - Reflect and Review

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have had a great week of learning in Pegasus class. In Maths, we have been revisiting counting to the next multiple of 10 to add and subtract 2 digit numbers using a number line. In English, we have been reading The Jolly Postman, writing a letter about Baby Bear to Goldilocks. 

In History, we have been exploring the history of North Hinksey. We have been locating our own houses using Google Maps Streetview and comparing our local community to photographs taken over 60 years ago. 

In Music, we have started exploring songs from the Hansel and Gretel opera. We began by reading the story of Hansel and Gretel, learning about the different characters. Then we started learning the song 'Little brother dance with me' where the two children are bored of doing chores in the house and decide to sing and dance together. We used clapping and actions to help us learn the rhythms and words within the song. 

Next week:

Next week in English, we will continue reading some of the other short stories from the Jolly Postman. In maths, we will be learning how to use our number facts to count money in pounds and pence, In Science, we will be exploring the life cycles of animals and humans and recognise the basic needs of animals to survive, creating our own survival kit list, 

Please remember to do the Maths homework ready to hand in on Monday - look at the sticker on the homework books if you need a reminder of which weeks are due in. 

PE stays on Monday and Wednesday – children to come to school in their PE kits. Outdoor Learning dates are: 29th January and 12th February. Please make sure your child comes to school with their outdoor kit on those dates.

Other information
We have started using school field again so please ensure that children come with indoor shoes or wellies. There are several students who do not currently seem to have them and when it is muddy, children won’t be allowed on the field if they do not have changes of shoes.
