Pegasus - Reflect and Review
Dear Parents,
We have had an exciting week of learning in Pegasus class!
As writers, we have been writing our own stories based on Pattan’s Pumpkin: An Indian story choosing our own setting, extreme weather event and special object that travels down the mountain.
As mathematicians, we have begun finding our number bonds to 10, 20 and 100 (tens) using dienes and part-whole models.
On Thursday, we had our last Forest School session with Mrs Brett where the children learnt how to make their own treehouses using a range of natural materials. The children were very engaged throughout.
On Friday, we had our Didgeridoo Workshop day. We learnt how to play the didgeridoo, listened to real Australian Dreamtime stories and created our own Aboriginal Art using traditional paints and our own sticks.
We also found out on Friday who our school councillors will be. Thank you to everyone that took part. All children gave excellent reasons why they would like to be on the school council and spoke confidently.
We had a fantastic week with our special visitors! We were thrilled to welcome children’s poet and author Samantha Rodgers to our school— the children left her assembly inspired and full of creative ideas. If you'd like to explore her books you can do so here.
The children continued this energy today by taking part in a range of active challenges, celebrating teamwork and the importance of keeping fit and healthy.
We are also excited to invite you to our North Hinksey Launch Event at Junior Parkrun on Sunday, 2nd November — and we’d love to see as many of you there as possible!
Next week:
Next week in English, we will finish writing our short story based on Pattan’s Pumpkin: An Indian Flood Story. In Maths, we will be learning how find the next multiple of 10 of a given 1 and 2 digit number using ten frames and number lines.
Home-learning
Spellings are also due on that day for those that have finished Read, Write, Inc. We will not be testing children on their spellings. It is just for children to practise their spellings at home.
