Pegasus - Reflect and Review
Dear Parents and Carers,
We have had a great week of learning in Pegasus class. In Maths, we have been learning how to calculate money in pence and pounds, through using our addition and subtraction facts. In English, we have been finishing our letter from the story of The Three Bears and practising writing sentences with a range of conjunctions and possessive apostrophes.
In Science, we have been learning about the life cycles of different animals, including humans. We have also been learning about the basic needs of animals to survive. We created our own survival checklist imagining we were stranded in a forest and ranked our choices using a diamond 9 activity. Then we learnt about the importance of exercise and how to measure our own heart rate completing various exercises.
In Music, we have continued exploring the song ‘Little brother dance with me’ from the Hansel and Gretel opera. We have focused on learning the words and melody lines as well as using clapping to understand the different rhythms.
Next week:
Next week in English, we will continue reading some of the other short stories from the Jolly Postman. In maths, we will be learning how to use our number facts to count money in pounds and pence, In Science, we will be exploring the life cycles of animals and humans and recognise the basic needs of animals to survive, creating our own survival kit list,
Please remember to do the Maths homework ready to hand in on Monday - look at the sticker on the homework books if you need a reminder of which weeks are due in.
PE is on Mondays and Wednesdays – children to come to school in their PE kits. Outdoor Learning dates are: 29th January and 12th February. Please make sure your child comes to school with their outdoor kit on those dates.
Other information
We are asking that parents support us in stopping items being brought in from home. Increasingly we are seeing toys, soft toys and fidgets being brought into school. If your child has a need that requires this then this will have previously been discussed with your child's teacher or our Senco to ensure that it supports their learning needs. Please do not send your child in with something without having had this discussion and agreement first.
Please ensure that your child brings indoor shoes to school to wear in the classroom if they go on the field.
